Parenting Workshop 2025 - Understanding Your Child

Parenting is one of the most rewarding yet challenging journeys in life. Recognizing the growing need for parents to find support, guidance, and community in navigating this role, EduSikh Skill Academy organized a two-hour interactive workshop on November 1, 2025, in collaboration with Singh Sabha, Dadar Gurudwara. The workshop, titled “Understanding Your Child: From Parenting Styles to Heartful Connection,” invited parents to pause, reflect, and reimagine their approach to raising emotionally secure and confident children.

The event drew an enthusiastic response, with parents attending both in person and virtually. The session went live, allowing participants from other cities including Hyderabad to join and engage, making it a truly pan-Indian conversation on parenting.

Led by facilitators from EduSikh, the workshop aimed to bridge the gap between traditional parenting expectations and modern-day realities. It emphasized that effective parenting is not about perfection but about presence, empathy and self-awareness. Over the course of two hours, participants engaged in six experiential activities designed to help them better understand their children’s needs, communication patterns, and emotional worlds.

The activities ranged from self-assessment exercises that helped parents identify their dominant parenting styles to group reflections that encouraged sharing of real-life challenges. Role-play sessions allowed participants to experience situations from their children’s perspective a powerful reminder of the importance of active listening and emotional validation. Other activities explored topics such as setting healthy boundaries, using positive reinforcement, and building deeper connections through mindful communication.

A key highlight was the discussion on “heartful parenting,” where parents learned the value of balancing love with limits. The facilitators emphasized that boundaries are not barriers but bridges that help children develop responsibility and emotional stability. The workshop also underscored the importance of reading and storytelling as daily bonding rituals that nurture imagination and empathy in children.

Participants described the session as transformative and practical, praising the safe, non-judgmental space EduSikh created for open conversation. For many, it was their first time engaging in guided discussions about their own parenting journeys realizing that understanding a child begins with understanding oneself.

The workshop was part of EduSikh’s broader mission to promote holistic education one that extends beyond classrooms into homes and communities. By equipping parents with emotional intelligence, communication tools, and reflective practices, EduSikh continues to foster environments where children and parents grow together with awareness, compassion, and mutual respect.
