Book Launch of “Guru Nanak - The Greatest Progenitor of Punjabi Literature”

To commemorate the 550th Birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji and with its vision of promoting Punjabi Language and Literature, EduSikh tied up with Team Muse India, to undertake the print publication of the MI Special Feature on the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji. The editor of this special issue, the eminent Punjabi writer, scholar and academician S. Tejwant Singh Gill worked hard to collect highly relevant and erudite articles. We wanted to make them available for a wider audience.

This year, the occasion of 550 years of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth, is a good time to remind ourselves of the revered master’s teachings. Guru Nanak described living an "active, creative, and practical life" of "truthfulness, fidelity, self-control and purity" as being higher than even the metaphysical truth.

What distinguishes Guru Nanak from other saints is his practical social vision, backed by positive action. While many teach about equality, fraternity, compassion, humanity, and social justice, he alone gave us the blueprint to achieve them.

Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Muse India Team, the Managing Editor, G S P Rao, the Chief Editor Mr U Atreya Srama, and to S. Tejwant Singh Gill for readily agreeing to our request. And a bigger thanks to Ms. Charanjeet Kaur who first came up with this idea of the book and then speedily gathered the required permissions. This book, the first of EduSikh Publications, hopefully marks a beginning in the direction of publishing meaningful and relevant Punjabi Literature.

The book was launched on 16th November 2019 at a function held at Guru Nanak College, Mumbai
